Marcia Jackson Hunger Awareness Award
Awarded to the Kalamazoo College Community by Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes for our work on the Kalamazoo Community Empty Bowls Project. I served as Faculty Advisor, Workshop Instructor/Co-coordinator and Artistic Advisor for this project.

Consultant for Good Neighbor Grant awarded to Empty Bowls Community Partners
Advised Judy Markusse, Director of Ministry with Community, on a successful Kalamazoo Community Foundation “Good Neighbor Grant” proposal for $1000 to fund the purchase of supplies for service-learning pottery workshops at Ministry with Community, Michigan Commission for the Blind, Jeter’s Leaders at the Turn 2 Foundation, and Kalamazoo College.
Faculty Development Grant at Kalamazoo College
$1200 towards travel expenses for two trips to New York City to set-up, present and take down my solo exhibition at the Jane Harstook Gallery.
Pfizer Kiln Purchase Grant
Worked with Advancement to secure outside funding for a new electric kiln to support service-learning courses at Kalamazoo College.
LaPlante Faculty Grant at Kalamazoo College
$750 honorarium for development of a service-learning course in ceramics.
Advisor for Good Neighbor Grant awarded to Breigh Montgomery
Advised (along with Alison Geist) my Senior Individualized Project student on a successful $950 “Good Neighbor Grant” from the Kalamazoo Community Foundation. Funding paid for materials for pottery workshops with students at Woodward, K Central and adults at Ministry with Community.
Faculty Development Grant at Kalamazoo College
$1500 towards travel expenses for the NCECA conference in Baltimore, MD in March 2005, part of this grant also contributed to shipping expenses for sculptures included in two touring exhibitions that were sponsored by the conference.
Faculty Development Grant at Kalamazoo College
$460 to fund the transport of a sculpture to the Society of Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh. The grant paid for packing materials and shipping for the Tall Chest of Drawers that was exhibited in the Transformation Ceramics exhibition.
Elizabeth R. Raphael Founders Prize, Finalist Society for Contemporary Craft
One of twenty-nine finalists for a $5,000 Ceramics Award. The Society for Contemporary Craft curated a touring exhibition of the finalists. There is also a catalogue of the exhibition explaining the history of the award and the work of the finalists.
Faculty Development Grant at Kalamazoo College
Funding to pay for shipping expenses for the installation Mirage in conjunction with the Selections I exhibition at Spaces Gallery in Cleveland, OH. The grant also paid for travel expenses so that I could attend the opening.
