The translation of a two-dimensional image or pattern into a three-dimensional form is significant in my work. Most of my pieces begin on paper as drawings, blueprints and patterns. These two dimensional maps of the three dimensional form are integral to the creation of the work. Generated from photographs, the cabinet house pieces all started as line drawings of the edges and structure of the source objects. Once constructed into a skeletal three-dimensional object the flat parts render the form as a three dimensional drawing in space, framing the space in between the space within and the space without.
